What is a TVU Broadcast Partner?

TVU Broadcast Partners enter into a contract with us, and gain the opportunity to make money on TVU via:

  • Advertising
  • Subscriptions
  • Pay-per-view events.

Revenue is split between the Broadcast Partner and TVU.

How do I become a TVU Broadcast Partner?

It's easy and free, and you can start in 1 of 2 ways:

  • Start by putting up your channel on TVU
  • Then contact our Business Development team at
  • Tell them you're ready to start making money on your TVU channel, and they'll guide you through the contract specifics.
  • Our Broadcast Partner support team (broadcastersupport@tvunetworks.com) also stands ready to help with any of your technical questions or needs.

Or, start by working with our Business Development team before putting up your channel.

I only have content rights in some countries; can I still broadcast on TVU?

Absolutely - we can restrict your channel to only be visible in the countries for which you have content rights.

Please discuss this with the Business Development team when you sign up.

How do I make money on TVU?

Broadcast Partners make money on TVU through:

  • Advertising
  • Subscriptions
  • Pay-per-view events

How does advertising work on TVU?

  • You mark where in your content you'd like in-stream ads to appear
  • TVU sells ads for those spots and for pre-rolls
  • The ads are seamlessly inserted into your content, and
  • We send you checks on a quarterly basis for your share of the proceeds.

It's that simple.

Our ads are just like traditional TV ads, but with the additional benefit that viewers can click on them to get to advertisers' web sites.

How do subscriptions and pay-per-view events work on TVU?

To create a subscription-based channel:

  • Work with our Business Development team in setting up your subscription-based channel
  • Set a monthly price (the subscription solution works on a month-to-month basis)
  • Viewers pay with credit cards
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each month unless cancelled
  • We recommend a “first month free” policy to bring in new subscribers, but this is not required
  • As with advertisements, we'll send you a portion of the money received by TVU, on a quarterly basis.

Pay-per-view events work roughly the same way as subscriptions, except that the viewer pays a one-time fee to watch the event.

Can I monetize via both subscriptions and ads?

Yes, you can –you can have a subscription-only channel that also carries ads.

Can I put the TVUPlayer on my web site?

Yes, you can.  And we encourage you to do so, to add value to your web site.

You can set up TVUPlayer to be tuned only to your channel, or you can allow the web site visitor to watch any TVU channel.

Instructions for doing this can be found here, and our Broadcaster Support team also stands ready to help you with any technical issues.

You are free to monetize TVUPlayer on your web site with web-based ads, and we don't ask for a share of any revenue you get that way.

How do channel logos work?

Only TVU Broadcast Partners can have their channel logos displayed in the Channel line-up.  After you've signed on as a Partner, send the Broadcaster Support team your logo.

Logo requirements:

  • Dimensions :      40 pixels x  30pixels
  • Image size:        1.5kb to 5kb
  • Type image:       PNG (preferred), GIF, JPEG
  • Transparent background

What free Broadcaster Partner services does TVU provide?

Broadcasting on TVU is free when you do it yourself using our free TVUBroadcast software and your own hardware.

All Broadcast Partners receive:

  • Access to TVU Forums for technical support
  • Allocation of a low (1-9999) channel number to get you displayed higher in our Channel line-up
  • Inclusion of your logo in the Channel line-up

The Broadcaster Support team can also help you build traffic for your web site by setting the web link below the video in the TVUPlayer to a message and URL of your choice.
